A series of abstract photographs captured through a microscope.

As part of my University degree, I wrote an extended essay discussing the similarities between microscopic and telescopic images. The intention was to investigate whether these scientific images could also be viewed as abstract art. I discovered that when objects are viewed through at such extreme magnifications, the identity of the subject is often unclear. This produces images of an abstract nature. That essay lead to this photomicrography project in my final year. I photographed a wide range of subjects through both compound and stereo microscopes, with the intention of creating a series of abstract photographs.
